Pours stout black, with < 1/2 finger fine, tan head. Spruce and grapefruit hops dominate the smell, although the malt backbone still holds its own; lots of cocoa and roasted coffee beans. Taste is similar to a black IPA at first, more like an imperial stout as it warms. Hop bitterness again is quite evident, with a good deal of roasted malts too. Nice bittersweet, dark chocolate finish. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation (thinner body and more carbonation than most imperial stouts). Slightly sticky mouthfeel.
